Ranchi: The Congress and JMM have been roped in for the Rajya Sabha seat in Jharkhand. Both the parties are vying for their respective candidates. Along with CM Hemant Soren, several Congress leaders are also camping in Delhi. CM Soren also met Sonia Gandhi on this issue but things have not been reached. The statement of Congress state president Rajesh Thakur has also come out. Rajesh Thakur has said that a leader from Jharkhand should go to the Rajya Sabha. We will follow what our President Sonia Gandhi will say. There was a positive discussion (with JMM) and I can say that Congress will have a candidate.

Since the Congress staked claim to the Rajya Sabha seat, JMM has said in a threatening tone that Congress should not threaten us. Because of us, Congress is here. If we are strong, Congress will also be strong. Congress also said that Congress is neither threatening to anyone nor asking. The alliance is always successful on the basis of approval. The alliance does not run on instruction.

JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, "The legislature party unanimously decided that JMM will field its candidate for the Rajya Sabha in every situation. The party is expected to get support from Congress. We want there to be only one candidate of the Grand Alliance for the elections.'' He said cm Soren will meet the Congress president today itself.
