Ranchi: The lives of 3 people from the same family in Gumla, Jharkhand, were marred by superstition. Three persons from the same family were hacked to death in the village of Luto on suspicion of being a witch. The two criminals surrendered before the police after the murder. In Jharkhand, in the name of superstition, murders are not hidden from anyone. Such cases come to light here day in and day out. However, the state government has taken several steps including publicity against superstition, yet these incidents are not going to stop.

The same incident is said to have taken place on September 25. A case of murder of 55-year-old Bandhan Oraon and his wife Somari Devi and 40-year-old daughter-in-law has come to light in Luto village here. The murder was done by a relative. Somari Devi, the wife of Bandhan Oraon, is said to have worked as a sweeper. This led to his dispute with his nephews Bipata Oraon and Julu Oraon. Then, together, they killed the three.

Both the criminals surrendered after the same murder. Police have also seized the weapon used in the murder. Police are interrogating the culprits and trying to ascertain the full truth of the incident. There have been cases of murder in Gumla in the name of Witch Bisahi in the past. On 22nd February, the entire family of Nikodin Topno was killed in Buruhatu village of Kamdara police station on the suspicion of witch-Bisahi.
