Ranchi: An incident of human trafficking has been reported in Jharkhand. A woman was caught with a newborn by CISF soldiers following an investigation at Ranchi airport on Thursday. When she could not name the child, the soldiers became suspicious. When the ticket was checked, there was no mention of the child. Thereafter, the culprit was arrested and sent to jail.

According to police, the arrested woman's name is Nikhat Parveen (36). She had bought the newborn from Ratni Devi in Sonahatu for Rs 22,000. Parveen said she had received the news of Ratni having twins from a woman in Bagodar. The criminal Parveen's husband Javed Sheikh lives in Thakurpara in Mumbai. Police produced Parveen in court from where she was sent to jail. Police have sent the child seized from her to a child shelter home. Parveen had arrived in Ranchi alone on January 11 by plane from Mumbai, but on January 13, she returned to Mumbai by plane with a three-day-old milk-drinking baby.

The woman Parveen has not any boy, she has two daughters. Her husband is an employee in a hotel. Police are also investigating if he is associated with a child thief gang. A police team will now be sent to Mumbai to verify the woman's address. In addition, statements will be taken from the woman who sold the child as to why she sold her son. Did she take this step because of poverty? Or did she sell the child for some other reason? The case is being investigated by the police.
