Jimmi Shergill is one of the renowned and most loved actors in the film Industry. From an innocent boy in  Mohabbatien to Raja Bhaiya in Tanu weds Manu. Jimmi won the hearts of people by his power-packed performance. The actor is celebrating his birthday today. On his birthday have a look on an interesting story on him.

Jimmi Shergill was born in a Sikh family in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He moved to Punjab, the place of his ancestors, in 1985 where he studied in Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, and Bikram College Patiala. He learned acting from Sri Harpal Singh and then moved to Mumbai to work in the entertainment industry. Jimmi belonged to a traditional sikh family. Jimmy had revealed that he was turbaned till the age of 18. But during his time in the hostel, the actor had found it extremely difficult to manage his long hair. Thus he had decided to cut them. His parents became very disappointed with him. His father and other family members had broken all ties with him.

Speaking about the incident Jimmi once told, "I wore a turban till I was about 18, till it became really difficult for me to manage washing and wearing one in a hostel. Of course, it was many other things too but I asked my dad casually on one of his trips to my hostel and decided to cut my hair one day.”

He further added, “Not just my parents, but my entire family did not talk to me for a year-and-a-half properly after that except for my one mama who had also cut his hair before me. My family thought that I wouldn't last for even 15 days given the change in my lifestyle, but I did. Of course, my family supported me throughout both emotionally and financially."

On the work front, Jimmi Shergill started his career with a shelved movie Amit Arts "Dum Dum Diga Diga"(1996)Starring Jimmy Shergill, Mayuri Kango, Antara Mali Nasir Khan, Punit Issar, Mohnish Bahl, Deven Verma, Mohan Joshi, Music by Lucky Ali, Koko, Music by Bobby Khan, Reels:13. The actor had made his acting debut with the film, Maachis, which was directed by Gulzar, which helped him gain Aditya Chopra's attention, and he was cast in the film, Mohabbatein. Over his career span, he has given various power-packed performances.
