Between internet data being the cheap and increasing use of WiFi technology, the country's WiFi data card market has sprung up. In the second quarter of this year, more than 40 lakh WiFi data cards were sold in India and 97 percent of the cards were 4G technology. 

According to a report, the share of Reliance JioFi in the data card market was 91 percent in the quarter. It says that this increase in sales of WiFi data cards can affect the extent of the number of broadband users and the sale of devices like a router. With it, the Mifi (SIM card data card) can play a bigger role in digitization in the country in the coming time.

Research Institute Cyber Media Research CMR India has stated in its study that in the second quarter of the financial year 2017, the Indian data-card market has increased by 16 percent to more than 4 million units. 

It has seen a huge increase of 614 percent on an annual basis. According to its monthly report on the data-card market, CMR, in the first quarter of 2017, this number was about 34 lakh. 

According to this, the share of 4G / LTE technology card accounted for 97 percent of the total data card sold in the country in the quarter, and it recorded 17 percent increase. Meanwhile, sales of 3G technology-based data cards declined 61 percent.

In this report, the change in the internet data card has been credited to the new telecom company Reliance Jio. According to this, Reliance Jiofi holds 91 percent stake in the data card market in the quarter. Huawei's market share at the second place is 3 percent.
