Patna: Census was proposed in 2021 after 2011. Preparations for the same were also started after a directive from the Centre in Bihar till a few days ago, but it is still in cold storage due to the corona epidemic. In this regard, Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) National President Jitan Ram Manjhi hit out at the government and demanded immediate commencement of caste based census.

Jitan Ram Manjhi tweeted on Friday that "In the present situation, the census of the country is necessary but the census work has been stopped due to corona. Why avoid census when elections can be held in the country? The Government of India is requested to start the 10-year census as well as the caste census without delay." It may be recalled that administrative preparations for this year's census were initiated. The census was to be completed in two phases. Training was also to be imparted to the personnel for this purpose. The preparations were initiated on the directions of the Census Director of Bihar at the behest of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, but it was postponed due to corona.

Tell us that the census does not only count people, but contains all the details. There is also a census law in India under which it is conducted every ten years. It was earlier in 2011, after which it was now scheduled to take place in 2021. This is being avoided due to corona, which has been questioned by former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi.
