Today, there is Jivitputrika Vrat that every mother holds for her offspring. It is recognised that by keeping these fasts, children have longevity.Jigputrika Vrat is also known as Jiutia. This fast is performed on the ashtami date of the Krishna side of Ashwin Mas. Let us tell you that The Vrat is celebrated especially in parts of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Now, today, we are going to tell you where the tradition of fasting started.

Since the Mahabharata period, the relationship - The Hikaputratrika Vrat is concerned with the Mahabharata period. Ashtthanama was very angry after the father's death in the War of Mahabharata. He entered the Pandavas camp for a sense of revenge in mind. Five people were sleeping inside the camp. Ashtthanama killed him as pandav. It is said that all Draupadi had five children.

Arjun took Ashtthanama captive and snatched his divine gem. In anger, Ashtthanama killed the baby in the womb of Abhimanyu's wife. In this way, Lord Krishna revived the baby in his womb by giving the fruit of all his punyas to the unborn offspring of the Utra. The child, who was alive by the grace of Lord Krishna, was named Jilputrika. Since then, the tradition of keeping the Jitia vow every year for the longevity of the children and the desire to mars is fulfilled.
