Srinagar: In a joint operation conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Special Operations Group (SOG), a registered Over-Ground Worker (OGW) was arrested in the Hari Budha area of Poonch district. The accused, identified as Qamaruddin, who is also a school headmaster, was found in possession of a foreign-made pistol and Chinese grenades.
The recovered arms cache is suspected to be intended for disrupting the upcoming elections in the Poonch area, as per the Poonch police. A search operation is currently underway in connection with the case. The operation was launched jointly by the 39 RR of 6 Sector, Romeo Force, along with the JKP and SOG Poonch. Qamaruddin was apprehended with the arms cache at his residence in Hari Budha.
According to the police statement, "The consignment recovered is suspected to be used to disturb the upcoming election in the Poonch area. The search is still in progress. Two Chinese grenades and one Pakistan-made pistol were recovered from the OGW."
