In the solution, it has been revealed that under the new hostel rules in Jawaharlal Nehru University, the increase in hostel fees is going to affect about 40 percent of the students. The students' union claims that under the new rules of a room, they will have to pay 300 rupees for 10 rupess room.  Apart from this, for the first time service charges will also be added in hostel rules. It will have to pay Rs 1700 and the mess security amount will increase from Rs 5500 to Rs 12000.

According to the information received, according to JNU Students' Union President Ishi Ghosh, the university management has declared the new hostel draft through social media as a rumor. While the registrar said in an official statement that new changes are also taking place. More than the dress code, we are concerned about the education of 40 percent of the students, whose parents will not be able to pay.

If the same students had money, they could get admission in any other institution, not JNU. The same university administration issued a circular on 3 October, proposing a change in the new hostel rules, while on 28 October 2019 secretly passed over. Where is the justice of applying the rules in this way without informing the common students including the students union.

Ghosh said that, we are repeatedly given taunts to study with tax payers' money. JNU students will never be able to deny this. That the expenses of students studying and living here are run with the cooperation of every citizen of this country. We are all responsible citizens of India and want to contribute to the development of the country. However, with the implementation of the new rule, the dream of students of poor families to get higher education will be broken.

What are the new hostel rules

- Rent of single sitter room is twenty rupees now. In the new rule imposed,  it will be six hundred rupees per month.
- The rent of double sitter room will be increased from ten to three hundred rupees.
Earlier, service charges or utility charges such as water, electricity were not paid. In the new rule there is a provision of actuals on the edge, that is, we will have to give as much as we use.
- One time mess security was 5500 rupees. It has been increased to 12 thousand.
- There will be no entry in the hostel after 11:30 pm. Girls will not be able to go to Boys Hostel.
- There will also be a penalty for non-compliance. It will be from three to thirty thousand rupees.
