SAN FRANCISCO: The US-based provider of data management systems Cohesity has reduced its workforce by laying off staff members, including chief marketing officer Lynn Lucas.

Cohesity reportedly declined to confirm the precise number of employees affected by the round of job cuts, as per a report in the news portal Blocks & Files.

A corporate representative was reported as saying, "Cohesity has made the difficult decision to optimise our workforce, with a dual goal of having more flexibility to increase our investments in strategic areas of critical importance to our customers, and becoming cash flow positive in FY24."

"We will make sure that Cohesity provides resources and assistance to impacted employees, and where possible, we will try to redeploy them to available positions within the company. Additionally, we'll keep hiring internationally in fields that are crucial to Cohesity's strategy, the spokeswoman said.

In April 2023, there were 2,289 people working for the company. Lucas, who was appointed CMO of Cohesity in 2018, has also departed the business. "We thank her for her many contributions and wish her well," the statement stated.

Sanjay Poonen, a former VMware veteran, was appointed CEO and President of the business in August of last year. The business was founded in 2013 by current CTO and chief product officer Mohit Aron. Poonen formerly served as SAP's president and VMware's chief operating officer (COO).

Cohesity, with its headquarters in San Jose, California, began operating in the Asia-Pacific area in 2018.  The Company offers services including backup and recovery, disaster recovery, file and object services, dev/test, and data compliance, security, and analytics unified on a single multi-cloud data platform, decreasing complexity and eradicating enormous data fragmentation.
