PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a bold new goal on Thursday: his administration aims to create 12 lakh government jobs for young people by the end of next year. Speaking at the Gandhi Maidan after hoisting the national flag, Kumar highlighted the state's commitment to rapid development and inclusive growth.

Kumar revealed that the state government had previously promised 10 lakh jobs under the 'Saat Nischay Part-2' scheme launched in 2020. To date, approximately 5.16 lakh individuals have been employed through this initiative, with plans in place to offer an additional 2 lakh government positions. The Chief Minister noted that the state has already exceeded its employment creation target of 10 lakh, establishing over 24 lakh job opportunities so far. The government aims to add another 10 lakh jobs by the next year.

Kumar criticized opposition leaders who, he claimed, are falsely taking credit for job creation efforts. He reaffirmed that the initiative to provide 10 lakh jobs originated from his administration's efforts.

Regarding the central government's recent special package for Bihar, Kumar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This package is set to support development and infrastructure projects in sectors including road construction, health, tourism, and industry.

On law and order, Kumar emphasized his administration's focus on development and maintaining the rule of law across the state. He announced plans to increase the Bihar police force by 2.27 lakh personnel to enhance security and ensure community harmony.
