New Delhi: According to EPFO data, a total of 61,12,223 new jobs have been created in the country in FY 2018-19. On the other hand, 15,52,940 new jobs were created in 2017-18 (from September 2017). Similarly, 96.6 lakh jobs have been created in the total 21 months from September 2017 to May 2019. According to the EPFO, 9,86,345 new jobs have been created in the last Month of May, lower than the 10,15,286 jobs that came in April.

According to EPFO data, in the month of May, 11,139 jobs have been seen in the under 18 age group. On the other hand, 2.9 lakh jobs have been registered in the age group of 18 to 21 years. According to a report by Business Today, it has been the highest-income age group in May. In addition, 2.26 lakh new jobs have come up in the age group of 22 to 25 years. From September 2017 to April 2019, the highest number of jobs created in 21 months.

According to the EPFO, this was the first time formal job creation crossed the 10 lakh mark in a single month. In April 2019, 8.78 lakh people became new members of the EPF, while 3.35 lakh people went out of the EPF scheme. However, about 5 lakh members rejoined the EPF scheme and resubscribed. Even though the highest 10.43 lakh jobs were created in the month of April, the monthly average number of total new jobs has decreased by 2000 jobs. EPFO manages social security funds for organized and semi-organized sector employees in India. It has more than 6 crore active members.
