Joe Biden meets Japanese Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo

TOKYO:US President Joe Biden met Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Monday. 
According to news report, Biden arrived at the Imperial Palace and was met by Naruhito. Before entering the palace, the two exchanged greets and pleasantries while wearing masks.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, the encounter was their first since they met in December 2013 as Crown Prince and Vice President during former President Barack Obama's administration.

Following his meeting with the Emperor of Japan, Biden will conduct discussions with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on various security and economic matters, according to officials here.

President Biden arrived in Japan on Sunday, as approximately 750 protesters came to the streets of Tokyo to protest the impending US-Japan meeting as well as the Quad Group Summit.
