United Nations: As the US confirms a few cases of the Omicron variant from coast to coast, US President Joe Biden has announced harsher Covid-19 travel regulations. According to the BBC, Biden's plan "doesn't include shutdowns or lockdowns" and does not expand vaccine mandates.

Omicron Cases have been found cases in California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, and Hawaii, where the person had no recent travel history, according to authorities. International travellrs to the United States, including Americans, must receive a Covid test within one day of departure starting next week, regardless of vaccination status. The necessity for wearing a mask on planes, trains, and buses will be extended until the middle of March. There will also be millions of free and insurer-funded home testing available.

In the United States, ten cases of the Omicron variant have been detected: in California, Colorado, Minnesota, and New York, as well as in Hawaii, where the person had no recent travel history, according to officials. In the wake of concerns that Covid cases will rise this winter, the US is urging all adults to receive booster immunizations. At the National Institutes of Health in Maryland, Biden said, "We're going to battle this variation with science and speed, not panic and misunderstanding."
