LUCKNOW: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Uttar Pradesh took a jolt as numerous members quit, including the state unit president, Neeraj Rai.

"The Trinamool Congress's top leaders do not want the party to expand beyond West Bengal. In Uttar Pradesh, the party's committed workforce is being ignored, and attempts are being made to disintegrate the state unit "On Tuesday, Rai said. He did not, however, reveal his future ambitions.

Mamata Banerjee's ambition to have a bigger presence in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would be hampered by party infighting. The party did not run in the state elections in 2022, but began ground-level preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh by building a strong organisational structure. The mass resignations, on the other hand, appear to have taken the party back to where it was in Uttar Pradesh before Mamata's third victory in West Bengal in May 2021.

Mamata's victory convinced party members that she is the only leader capable of defeating the saffron power. Trinamool's workers in Uttar Pradesh became more confident as a result, and they began to make efforts to achieve visibility.

After a team of senior leaders from the West Bengal branch of the party went Lakhimpur Kheri to see the relatives of the farmers who were mowed down by the vehicle of the son of the Union minister of state for home, the party's operations slowed dramatically.
