King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday on a three-day visit. Today King Abdullah II of Jordan is to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House to hold bilateral talks.

With a special gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received him at the airport and accorded a grand welcome.

In extensive talks on Thursday India-Jordan will cover the entire expanse of bilateral ties, official sources said adding that the Palestinian issue and ways to deal with terrorism, radicalization, and extremism are expected to figure notably in the deliberations.

The Jordanian King’s India visit comes almost three weeks after Prime Minister Modi took a trip to Jordan as part of his West Asia tour, including Palestine.

The King, a 41st generation direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, will also deliver a special address on Islamic heritage and promote moderation on Thursday morning which is likely to be attended by Prime Minister Modi.

Diplomats, representatives from Islamic institutions of all denominations, academicians, think-tanks, and representatives from across the country will be present. India considers Jordan an “oasis of stability and harmony” in conflict-ridden West Asia and New Delhi would like to intensify bilateral ties with the country during the King’s visit, official sources said.
