Jordan King India Visit – Bilateral talks underway to strengthen ties

PM Narendra Modi and His Majesty King AbdullahII bin Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are holding bilateral talks at Hyderabad House Delhi.

EAM talking head Raveesh Kumar tweeted, “Reinvigorating traditionally close and cordial ties! PM @narendramodi warmly welcomes His Majesty @KingAbdullahII Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Hyderabad House ahead of the bilateral talks”.

In a special event on ‘Islamic Heritage: Promoting Understanding and Moderation’ both leaders addressed.

PM Narendra Modi also presented an Urdu translation of the book 'A Thinking Person's Guide to Islam' by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad to Jordan King.

In his address, King of Jordan lauded India’s religious plurality in success against extremism along with PM Modi who emphasized on strength of plural heritage and diversity of Indian society against extremism.

“Our heritage and value, the message of our religion and its principles are the strengths on the basis of which we can overcome violence and terrorism,” said PM Modi.

“In India, democracy is not only a political system but a fundamental basis for equality, diversity and harmony. Indian democracy is a celebration of our age old plurality,” added PM Modi.

“Too much of what is heard in news & what is seen about religion, this is what separates people. Around the world suspicions are inflamed by what different groups don't know about others. Such ideologies of hate distort the word of God to stir conflict, “said King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Earlier Jordan King received ceremonial welcome at Rashrapati Bhavan.
