Jos Buttler reveals what he said to R Ashwin after KXIP skipper Mankaded him

After Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin Mankad Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 game earlier this season a rather aggressive chat between the two players on the field, as the third umpire deemed Buttler out for leaving the crease too early. Buttler has now revealed what was his interpretation and reaction to the dismissal.

Joe Buttler told Times of India, the controversial dismissal and his initial assessment of the controversial dismissal but revealed that he has moved on from the incident. He said, “I was disappointed. It doesn’t happen often in cricket, but when it does it actually is disappointing. Unfortunately, I have got out in a similar fashion before as well, so I will make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

The was seen in a conversation with Ashwin after the dismissal took place. When asked what did he tell the off-spinner, Buttler replied saying: “I just asked him if he really wishes to play the game that way. Whether he thought it was the right thing to do. And he obviously thought it was, in his opinion.”

He further added, “I am not sure, hopefully not. When something like that happens that you don’t expect to happen, it is down to the players to continue with the game. It was disappointing that whether it was that incident or we just didn’t quite play well that we couldn’t get over the line, because we had played some good cricket in that game and wherein a position to win. Given that, it was the first game of the season, so winning that match would have been a big boost for us.”
