DUBAI: Jos Buttler, the captain of England, voted the ICC Men's Player of the Month award on Monday for the first time after leading his team to the T20 World Cup victory in Australia in November while playing at his remarkable best with the bat.

Buttler triumphed in a lineup that included leg-spinner Adil Rashid, a teammate and fellow World Cup winner, and left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan. Both players were instrumental with the ball, leading their teams to the T20 World Cup championship game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

"I'd want to express my gratitude to the supporters who chose me as the ICC Player of the Month for November. This honour is a result of my colleagues' work throughout the most amazing month ever in cricket, which culminated in Australia's victory at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup "Buttler expressed his gratitude for the honour.

Last month, Buttler confirmed his status as one of the most intimidating batsmen in cricket. A Player of the Match performance in Brisbane's thrilling 20-run triumph over New Zealand marked the beginning of November. The opener, who was playing in his 100th T20I, scored 73 runs off of just 47 balls to give England's campaign some much-needed momentum.
He then put on what is likely his performance of the competition after England had assured their passage to the knockout rounds. He displayed the entire range of his strokeplay by hammering 80 from 49 balls in the semi-final against India as he was attempting to reach the winning score of 169. In Adelaide, he and Alex Hales shared a record-breaking opening partnership of 170 that helped the team win by 10 wickets.

It was pretty special to lead a team of players to the ultimate honour of becoming world champions, and it ranks right up there with the best months of cricket I've ever been a part of, continued Buttler.

Buttler scored a respectable 26 runs against a dangerous Pakistan bowling attack, despite the fact that his performance in the championship was below average by his norms. Then, he led the team's efforts on the pitch with his shrewd captaincy and bowling substitutions, causing Pakistan to lose and giving England its second T20 World Cup championship.
