Dehradun: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has asked a dozen government institutions and scientific organizations not to interact with the media or share data on social media about the landslide in Uttarakhand's Joshimath. The central government has said that their doing so is creating confusion not only among the affected residents but also among the citizens of the country.

In fact, a preliminary report released on Friday by the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has demonstrated rapid subsidence in parts of Joshimath. According to this, Joshimath has collapsed by 5.4 cm in just 12 days. ISRO also released photos taken from the satellite. However, these reports have been removed from the NRSC website. On Saturday (January 14), it was not explained by NRSC officials why the report was deleted.  

Uttarakhand cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat told the media that there is panic in Joshimath regarding the ISRO report, so he spoke to the director of ISRO and asked him to withdraw the report. Dhan Singh Rawat told 'The talk of land subsidence on the website created a lot of panic in Joshimath, so I asked them to give only an official statement and requested not to post anything like this on the website. I asked them to speak only the truth and if it is not so then remove it from the website. I urged them to give an official report and not create a stir until there is an official report.'
