Judge hearing Babri Masjid demolition case seeks security, SC seeks response from government

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is currently hearing the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case on a daily date. On the other hand, Justice SK Yadav, who is hearing the Babri Masjid demolition conspiracy case, has sought enhanced security. The apex court has sought a response from the Uttar Pradesh government in two weeks. Justice SK Yadav is hearing the trial in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

Justice SK Yadav had written a letter to the Supreme Court seeking police protection in the case. The apex court has now sought a response from the UP government on the issue. The court also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to issue an order extending the tenure of the judge till the trial of the case is over.

It may be mentioned that the charge sheet filed in the case includes the names of 13 others, including BJP leader L.K.Advani. In an order in July, the apex court had said that the trial in the case is to be completed within nine months and the judge will not retire until the trial is over. The apex court had also said that it would not hear any other case during his extended tenure.
