New Delhi: Advocate Jayashree Patil had filed a complaint against Justice SS Shinde in the Chief Justice of India and the Bombay High Court on May 5. The advocate had accused Shinde of insulting him by the judge for a hearing. After which Justice Shinde on Tuesday apologised for his "harsh words". The advocate in turn promised to withdraw his complaint.

In fact, advocate Jayashree Patil had approached the court last March with a petition seeking filing of a corruption FIR against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. His petition said the advocate had approached Malabar Hill police station before approaching the court but the police were not registering his FIR.

A bench of Justice Shinde had reprimanded Patil while hearing the petition. Justice S S Shinde had said that the petition was filed only for "cheap publicity". However, Patil's plea was later heard by a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta in April. He had also praised the former Home Minister for coming forward to lodge a complaint against him. A petition filed by the Maharashtra government in the case against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was heard before the Bombay High Court on Tuesday. Patil intervened on the hearing and said his application should be considered as the FIR was filed on his complaint itself.
