Melbourne: Ajinkya Rahane-led Team India have captured the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 by beating hosts Australia in the GABA Test. Australia had set a target of 328 runs against Team India, which the visiting team achieved with seven wickets lost. Team India not only made a spectacular comeback after a humiliating defeat in the first match of the series but also the series. After seeing this strength of the Indian cricket team, Langer spoke to a channel saying never underestimate Indians. In India, there is a 1.5 billion population and even though you are playing 11 of them, it is difficult to compete. Team India has ended the 32-year-long kingship at the GABA Maidan in Australia.

Australia lost the final Test at GABA against West Indies in 1988. He had never been defeated on the field since then. On the fifth day, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant contributed to India's historic victory by playing semi-directional innings. Gill scored 91, Pujara 56 and Pant unbeaten 89. Pant made a triumphant fourth.
