Someone has truly said that hard work beats talent. Khadidja Djibrine is a true example of it. Widely known as Kadi and ‘@itsnotkadi’ by her social media name, she hails from the Republic of Chad, a landlocked French colony located in north-central Africa. Chad is bordered by countries such as Sudan, Libya and Mali. She comes from a big Zaghawa family who are a Central African Muslim ethnic group. In her region, the people speak Arabic and French and she has 9 siblings and 7 half-siblings. Zaghawa is a powerful tribe that has been ruling Chad for over two decades and because of that, men have power over the women.
Her life has seen a lot of hardships. While her family is restrictive and believes in the practice of arranged marriages, she was not allowed to go out in her early days. Her routine was from home to school and vice-versa. To pass her time, Khadidja watched a lot of television and it became her best friend. A lot of TV shows and movies in different languages helped her learn English, Hindi and Spanish by herself. After watching and learning about different traditions and cultures on television, she realized that she wants to experience love and get married one day and not get married for the sake of arrangement.
Despite a tough journey, she moved to India and did her college in 2010. She studied commerce and did her majors in marketing management in 2013. During her college, she tried her hand at modelling and even tried to join bollywood but was rejected due to her skin colour. She later flew to the USA in 2014 to fulfil her dreams. It’s been almost 5 years she has been in the States and she has succeeded in getting many modelling assignments and is building her social media presence rapidly. Her new single ‘Draw The Line’ was released on October 26 this year. Besides this, she was also crowned as the 2nd runner up for Miss Reshma Beauty pageant on May 3, 2019, in Beverly Hills, California. Moreover, she is also building her presence on YouTube. Her journey till now has really been incredible and we can’t stop but applaud this internet sensation for making her dreams come true.
