Kailash later moved to Singapore and Thailand to earn money. When he returned after six months, he went to Rishikesh in association with the saints and stayed here for some time. It is said that the Sufiana style came from Kailash Kher's singing. Kailash himself says that Rishikesh, the banks of the Ganga, has contributed immensely to his music. Kailash also spent days in Mumbai in extreme poverty. He lived in Chawl. Kailash is now famous. He married Mumbai-based Sheetal and has a son named Kabir.
