Kolkata: Taking a dig at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's opposition to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday said that Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Bangladesh CM is not. Vijayvargiya while talking to the press said that I do not know whether Bengal CM Mamata has read the Constitution of India or not? Under the federal structure in India, the central and state governments discharge their responsibilities separately.

Vijayvargiya said that it is the job of the central government to make laws regarding citizenship and pass it in Parliament. Vijayvargiya, in charge of West Bengal, said, "In the federal structure, how can Banerjee say that she will not allow the citizenship amendment bill to be implemented in West Bengal. She is the CM of West Bengal and not of Bangladesh." Indeed, while addressing a rally in Kharagpur on Monday, Banerjee said that there is no need to fear the NRC and the Citizenship Bill. We will never implement it in West Bengal.
