Raipur: Sedition accused Kalicharan Maharaj has not been released for making derogatory remarks about Mahatma Gandhi in Chhattisgarh's Dharma Sansad. The jail authorities did not release Kalicharan over any documents of the Maharashtra court. The jail administration has sought documents under the rules. On Saturday too, supporters and lawyers had arrived for the release of Kalicharan Maharaj. The BJP has accused the jail administration of forcibly stalling the case.

The bail plea of Kalicharan Maharaj was heard in the High Court on Friday. The verdict was reserved after the hearing in the court of Arvind Singh Chandel before the bail. Then in the evening, the High Court granted bail to Kalicharan Maharaj. After receiving the copy of the order, supporters and lawyers rushed to jail for Kalicharan's release, but the jail administration did not release Kalicharan Maharaj saying that the documents did not come from the Maharashtra court. Bjp leader and lawyer by profession Vishwadini Pandey, who was among the supporters who gathered outside the jail premises, said it was an insult to Hindu sentiments.

Vishwadini said that Kalicharan Maharaj is deliberately not being released. Documents have been sent to the jail administration through the mail, but now some documents are being called from Maharashtra through speed post, it is not correct. Kalicharan's supporters stood outside the jail premises for three hours on Sunday and chanted Jai Shri Ram and Om Kali. Earlier on Saturday, a similar supporter and lawyer had reached the jail for Kalicharan's release. After arriving at the post on Monday, there is talk of releasing Kalicharan Maharaj.
