The upcoming dystopian action thriller 'Kalki 2898 AD', directed by Nag Ashwin, has stormed the box office even before its official release, raking in over Rs.16.2 crores from advance bookings within just two days. This impressive feat translates to more than 5 lakh tickets sold nationwide ahead of its theatrical debut on June 27.

According to a report on the trade website Sacnilk, the film grossed a staggering Rs.14.5 crore solely from the Telugu markets during its presale period, highlighting the immense popularity and anticipation among audiences.

Starring powerhouse actors like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, 'Kalki 2898 AD' promises a cinematic spectacle set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop in the year 2898 AD. Initially delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, filming resumed in July 2021 at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, with the release date later adjusted from May 2024 to June 2024 to avoid clashing with the 2024 Indian General Elections.

The storyline of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is intricately woven with elements from Hindu mythology, drawing inspiration from the epic Mahabharata, and unfolds in the last remaining city, 'Kasi', ruled under the dictatorship of Supreme Yaskin. This ambitious project, with a budget of Rs.600 crores, aims to captivate audiences across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam languages, marking Deepika Padukone's debut in Tollywood.

Anticipation for the film has reached unprecedented levels, with industry insiders predicting it to gross around Rs.200 crores on its opening day alone. For Prabhas, renowned for his roles in blockbusters like 'Bahubali' and 'Salaar-Part 1', 'Kalki 2898 AD' could potentially surpass previous records, cementing its place as a cinematic milestone in Indian cinema.

As the countdown begins for its release, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has already garnered a loyal fan base eagerly awaiting its theatrical unveiling, making it a must-watch for enthusiasts of action, mythology, and dystopian narratives.
