Kalki Koechlin was born to French parents. Her parents came to India as hippies and settled here only as they like the country very much.S he is consistently working in the Bollywood industry as an actress. Kalki is a writer too. She had done modelling assignments for television commercials before being shortlisted for the role of Chandramukhi (Chanda) in Dev.D (2009). Kalki, who can speak Tamil, English, and French, had to learn Hindi to prepare for her role in Dev.D (2009). She was apprehensive about how people would judge her after seeing her in the role.
She won The Hindu's 2009 MetroPlus Playwright Award, along with Prashant Prakash, for their co-authored entry "Skeleton Woman." Kalki also acted in the play "Hair" directed by Ajay Krishnan.
Kalki is soon going to make her Tollywood debut with Bahubali fame Rana Daggubati. The movie is titled ‘Aranya’. This movie will release in Tamil, Telugu and also in Hindi. In Hindi, it is titled ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’. Aranya is the most awaited movie of Rana and Kalki. Noted music composer Shantanu Moitra has composed music for the film. The unit is busy shooting in Thailand and Kerela.
