Guwahati: People will be allowed to visit the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha) from August 18, Wednesday, at the world-famous Kamakhya temple in Assam. This was informed by the Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee to the media today. The committee said that those who have been vaccinated can visit the sanctum sanctorum. The committee also said that only 20 people will be able to visit per hour.

Kamakhya Temple is 7 km away from Dispur, the capital of Assam. This Shaktipeeth is located at a distance of 10 km from Neelanchal Mountain. Where not only the people of the country but also from different countries come to visit mother Kamakhya in this temple. This temple is a major site for Hindu pilgrims. Assam Health Minister Keshav Mahanta said on Tuesday that so far 11 percent of the population in the state has taken both doses of corona vaccine.

Addressing a press conference here, Mahanta said, 'As of today, 1.18 crore people have taken the first dose of the vaccine while 25.21 lakh people have taken the second dose.'
