Bhopal: The Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh has started work on 'Project Gaushala' to open new cowsheds in the state. Chief Minister Kamal Nath has also held an important meeting in which Animal Husbandry Minister Lakhan Singh Yadav was also present. During the meeting, Kamal Nath reviewed the progress of Project Gaushala and directed that any person or institution which wants to open Gaushala should be given the right to use government land.

He also issued orders for reorganization of District Animal Welfare Committees and setting up of Animal Welfare Committees in all the blocks. Officials of the Animal Husbandry Department informed that 955 cowsheds have been commissioned in the state. He said, at present 614 cowsheds are in operation in Madhya Pradesh, of which about one lakh 60 thousand cows have been kept.

During the meeting, Kamal Nath said, "Any institutions that are interested should be given powers to use the land to open Gaushala on government land and Project Gaushala should also be publicized among the NRI abroad." The seriousness of Kamal Nath's connection with Project Gaushala can be gauged from the fact that he told the meeting that anyone who is interested in Gopalan can meet him directly.
