PM Narendra Modi had reached Bathinda last Wednesday from where he was to fly to the National Martyrs' Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter. In fact, due to rain and bad weather here, the Prime Minister waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear. When the weather did not improve, it was decided that he would go to the National Martyrs' Memorial by road, but the PM convoy was stopped on Bathinda flyover for a full 20 minutes while going to the rally by road, after which the PM cancelled the rally and decided to return to Delhi. On his arrival at the airport, the Prime Minister said in his statement, "Thank you to the Punjab CM for being able to return alive.'' His statement sparked a pros and cons war.
