New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut received the Padma Shri Award 2020 on Monday in New Delhi. Padma Shri is the country's fourth-highest civilian honour. The Padma Awards were presented by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The Padma Awards are one of India's highest civilian honours, given out on the eve of Republic Day every year. Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (for distinguished service of higher order), and Padma Shri (for distinguished service of higher-order) are the three categories of awards (distinguished service). The award is intended to recognise accomplishments in all fields or disciplines where public service is a factor.

This year, President will present 119 Padma Awards. There are seven Padma Vibhushans, ten Padma Bhushans, and 102 Padma Shris on the list. There are 29 women among the awardees, 16 posthumous awardees, and one transgender awardee.
