New Delhi: Political turmoil in the country has increased considerably over the past few days, recently CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani joined the Congress. Earlier, the duo met Rahul Gandhi at Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Park in Delhi. Jignesh is an independent MLA from Gujarat while Kanhaiya has been associated with the Communist Party of India so far.
Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari hit out at his own party before the two joined the Congress. He referred to The Communists in Congress, a book by Communist thinker Kumaramangalam, which suggests that he is taking a dig at the party. Tiwari tweeted that there is speculation that some Communist leaders will join the Congress. Now the pages of the 1973 book 'Communists in Congress' may be reversed.
On the other hand, there is political turmoil in the Punjab Congress. Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the first State Congress President. Recently, Gulzar Inder Chahal was formally appointed as the Treasurer of the Punjab Congress Committee 7 days ago on September 21, when Charanjeet Singh Channi was sworn in as the new CM of the state.
