New Delhi: Kanhaiya Kumar has left the Communist Party of India (CPI) and taken over the congress. Randeep Surjewala and KC Venugopal got his membership of the party at the event in Delhi on Tuesday (September 29). Dalit activist and MLA Jignesh Mevani from Gujarat was also scheduled to join the Congress but could not join the party due to professional reasons. He said he has joined the party ideologically. Patidar leader Hardik Patel was also present. The Congress, which is believed to be troubled by rebels in many states, now wants to come to power on the strength of the youth.

On joining the Congress, Kanhaiya said, "I am joining the Congress because it is not just a party, it is an idea. It is the oldest and most democratic party in the country. I am insisting on 'democratic,' not only me but many people think that the country cannot live without Congress. I am joining the Congress because I think some people in the country are not just people, but they are thought. They have not only occupied the power of the country, but they are also trying to spoil the thinking tradition, culture, values, history, present, and future of the country.''

Kanhaiya said that congress is like a big ship, if it is saved, I believe that the aspirations of many people, the unity of Mahatma Gandhi, the courage of Bhagat Singh and the idea of equality of BR Ambedkar will also be protected. That is why I have joined Congress. Millions and crores of the youth of the country are beginning to feel that if Congress is not left, the country will not survive. We have joined the Congress Party because Congress will take Gandhi's legacy forward.
