May 12 2016: A 16 year old girl committed suicide,days after a youth allegedly tried to rape her at Sutan Purwa village of Kanpur district.

The girl's family had alleged that a local youth Shivam had allegedly tried to rape her on May 9.She was seemingly unhappy after the case hanged herself from the ceiling yesterday.

SP Pushanjali Mathur said that, "The accused allegedly used to tease the 16-year-old girl on her way to college,"

She added, “The girl had complained to her family about the accused earlier, but they chose to remain mum fearing insult”

“Based on the grievance of the family members, a case has been registered alongside Shivam. The suspect is still at large and a manhunt has been launched to nab him”,she said.
