Lucknow: The administration on Saturday took major action against Zafar Hayat, the main accused in the violence that broke out in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur after the Jumei prayers on June 3. The municipal team launched an anti-encroachment drive and bulldozed the illegal building of Swaroop Nagar Mohammad Ishtiaq. According to the municipal corporation, the building was demolished due to the over-construction of the map.

The main accused, Hayat Zafar Hashmi, was arrested by the police from Hazratganj in Lucknow. A YouTube channel of the accused Javed Ahmed which is Hazratganj in Lucknow. All the accused were hiding in the office of the same channel, after which the main mastermind, Hayat Zafar Hashmi, besides Javed Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Rahil and Mo. Sufiyan was arrested.

Muslim organisations in Kanpur had called for a strike on June 3. Muslim organisations were protesting against Nupur Sharma's alleged statement about Prophet Mohammed. During this time, violence broke out. According to police, 50 accused have been arrested in the case so far. Six people in the poster have been arrested. Some of the arrested accused are also minors.
