He said, "We will investigate whether he had any connection with the PFI. Action will be taken under the gangster act and NSA and their property will be confiscated. The four arrested have been identified as Hayat Jafar Hashmi, Javed Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Rahil and Mohammad Sufiyan. All of them are associated with the Maulana Ali Jauhar Fans Association. We will ask the court to send them on a 14-day remand. Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed that 24 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence in Kanpur.''

Kanpur CP Vijay Singh Meena said, "Some people had tried to incite communal tension in Kanpur. The police swung into action and brought the situation under control. The 18 accused were arrested on Friday, while six were arrested on Saturday. Three FIRs have been lodged. A total of 36 people have been identified so far.''
