Story -

When Shri Krishna killed Kansa, the people of Mathura celebrated with great joy. When Sri Krishna killed Jarasandha's mama  Kamsa in Mathura, Jarasandha becomes enraged because of Sri Krishna and the entire Yadava clan on seeing his two daughters being widowed. So, Jarasandha attacked Mathura and the Yadavas 17 times. Sri Krishna finished all his army in the battle 17 times and each time Lord Krishna fled away from the battle and so he was named as "Ranchod".

Due to the blessing of Lord Shiva Sri Krishna could have not killed Jarasandh directly, so he would fled away from the war. Lord Krishna had to relocated his capital city to Dwarka, Gujrat.  Dwaraka was an island and it was not possible for anyone to attack it at all.  Jarasandh was not able to attack Dwarka any more as it was in the mid of ocean also. Krishna began a campaign to diminish the power of Jarasandha.

To attain the capacity to invade Dwaraka, Jarasandha planned to conduct a Yagna to please the Lord Shiva. For this Yagna, He had imprisoned 95 kings and was in need of 5 more kings, after which he was planning to perform the Yagna, sacrificing all the 100 kings. Jarasandha thought that this Yagna will make him win the powerful Yadava Army.

The kings captured by Jarasandha wrote a secret missive to Sri Krishna to rescue them. Sri Krishna, not wanting to go for an all out war with Jarasandha to rescue the captured kings, in order to avoid a major loss of lives, devised a plan to eliminate Jarasandha.

Sri Krishna planned a clever scheme to eliminate Jarasandha by making Yudhisthira's brother Bhima  wrestle with the Jarasandha in a duel. On one such occasion Lord Krishna,  Arjuna,  Bhima in the guise of Brahmins met Jarasandha. Lord Krishna asked Jarasandha to choose any one of them for a wrestling match. Jarasandha did not recognize them first but  when they asked for yudh, Jarasandh knew them easily and chose Bhima, the strongman, to wrestle.

Both of them fought for 14 days. Bhima lost hope to win the battle and sought help of Sri Krishna. Lord Krishna, who then knew of the secret of Jarasandha's weakness so he took a blade of grass or twig and spit it into two. Bhima understood the clue and split Jarasandha's body into two, slaying the king.
After his death, the Pandavas released all the 95 kings imprisoned by Jarasandha and crowned his son, Sahadeva  as the king of Magadh .

and when the news of Kansa's death Magadh Raj Jarasandh, his brother-in-law, got furious. After that, with his huge army, he started attacking the Yaduvanshis. When Shri Krishna came to know that Jarasandha was coming to attack Mathura, he said to Balram Ji, "Brother Balarama! By killing Kansa, we liberated the state of Mathura from tyranny, but when the attack of Jarasandha will be cleverly faced. This will be a fierce face-to-face war, so the common people will have to protect the people and money by keeping them in a safe fort. Then we will fight with the soldiers.

Balram ji liked this idea. On the arrival of the army of Jarasandha, Shri Krishna and Balaram Ji defeated Jarasandha with great fighting skills. Many of the army of Jarasandha were killed. Jarasandha was very ashamed. He went away, but by doing this austerity, he vowed to obtain divine power and destroy even the entire Yaduvansh with an even bigger army. After Jarasandha was defeated, Shri Krishna and Balaram thought that the enemy lost was more fierce. Now he will attack again and again, so we should establish our kingdom on the beach in the far west of Mathura so that repeated attacks of the enemy do not cause loss of wealth. Shri Krishna and Balaram ji were thinking that Kalayavan got the news of the defeat of his friend Jarasandha.

He started to attack Shri Krishna with his huge demon army. Kalyvn blessings had demons. He had received this boon on the harsh austerity of Lord Shankar that he should not die from any weapon. When Shri Krishna heard about Kalayavan climbing Mathura, he said to Balram ji, "Brother Balarama! Jarasandha was a human king, Kalayavan is a demon. Instead of fighting it face to face, it has to be defeated with some skill. You stop the demonic forces. I will face Kalayavan alone and take him away from the battle field while fighting. By not seeing your king and general in battle, the morale of the Asura soldiers will be broken, then you will be able to defeat the Asura army easily. ”By making such war policy, Shri Krishna started waiting for Kalayavan's army. In a short time, the army of the giant Kalayavan marched on Mathura. Balram ji along with his army fought in the battlefield. Krishna directly yielded the Kalyvn. Been a while weapons face Kalyvn. Tired and drugged Kalayavan, then threw his weapon and ran away from the battlefield.

Kalayavan roared to see Shri Krishna running away, "Where will you run away?" Now you cannot escape from my hands. "Shri Krishna said," Kalayavan! I know that you are very powerful. I cannot face you on the battlefield, so I am running away. You will be able to kill catch me, then. '' Having said this, Krishna ran ahead and Kalyvn behind. So there is seeing the Kalyvn forces do not see them anywhere in the grounds of King Kalyvn war he believed was killed Kalyvn. Seeing his king and general, Kalayavan's army escaped from the battlefield. The Yaduvanshis started playing Dundubhi of Vijay. Kalayavan was following in the tune of catching Shri Krishna. He did not care about his army. Shri Krishna hid in a huge mountain cave. Did not even hold Krishna after his go far out, he thought that Krishna must have of course covered by the killing this cave of fear tired. He also entered the cave.

He saw that inside the cave, a very huge man is sleeping from feet to head covered with pitambar. Kalayavan woke up upon seeing him, "Now come not in the grip." With the excuse of sleeping by covering your face, you understand that I will not be able to recognize you and you will be saved. ”Shri Krishna was listening to all this while standing on a pillar Kalayavan gave the sleeping man a loud kick and shouted, "Get up, I see your time has come." The sleeping man woke up after suffering an injury. After removing the cloth from the mouth, he said, "Hey Naradham! Who are you who is disturbing my sleep like this? ”When he saw Kalayavan standing in front of him, the fire-crest came out of his eyes and Kalyavan standing in front of him turned into a pile of ashes. In the meantime, Shri Krishna appeared in front of the pillar, and said to that person, "Maharaja Muchkund! You are blessed You have done human welfare again by devouring a terrible demon sinner. The one who was consumed by the sight of your vision was the Asura Raj Kalayavan.

Muchkund said, "Who are you and how do you know me?" Shri Krishna said, "Maharaj! In Treta Yuga, with the help of the Gods in Dewasur Sangram, they helped them win. When you expressed your desire to go into your kingdom and family after the victory of the gods in that war lasting for a cycle, Devendra had said, "Rajan! Now you have passed a cycle in here. You came to the age of the Devas when you came to Devaloka. Now you have neither a state nor family on the planet, so on the ground we tell you a place to rest, you should rest there by sleeping. If someone interrupts your sleep, it will be consumed from your first sight. On waking up you will see Narayana again and you will go to Baikuntha lok. "Muchkund said," What you said is true, but how do you know my history from a cycle? Who are you?''

Shri Krishna said, "I am Yaduvanshi Krishna." Muchkund asked, "How can an ordinary male know all this? God I request you Please see me in your true form. This Asura, who interrupted my sleep, died, but now what will happen to me when I wake up? How long will I remain in this state? "Shri Krishna said," Rajan! I am playing an incarnation of Narayana in the Sri Krishna Dwapara era. You will see my true form and upon seeing it, you will renounce this physical body and dwell in my liberation world with your pious deeds. ”By saying this, Shri Krishna appeared to Muchakund in the form of conch, chakra, mace, Padmadhari Narayan. On seeing him, a divine light came out of Muchkund's body and merged in the sky.
