Following the performance of contestant Nishant Bhat, Karan Johar became numb. He is currently serving as a judge on the dance competition Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 10. The LGBTQIA community was the focus of Nishant's performance. Through his performance, he expressed their struggles and social rejection. His act is shown in the video promo, which is then followed by comments from Madhuri Dixit and Karan.
Nishant can be seen dancing while swinging a red dupatta and joyfully embracing it in the video. Then, a door opens, and a voice is heard saying, "Ye ladka hokar bhi ladkiyon ke kapde pehn raha hai" (He is a boy, but he still dresses as a woman). At the conclusion of his performance, he sobs out of regret.
"LGBTIA community ko samaj accept karne ke liye ready nhi hota hai," Madhuri Dixit is heard saying in the video. (Society is not receptive to the LGBTQIA community.)" After that, Karan breaks down and says, "I got numb because I've been through this," adding, "kyuki mai unn galiyu se guzar chuka hoon."" He was dressed in a black T-shirt with a purple jacket on top.

At the 2019 The India Today Conclave, Karan spoke candidly about the struggles faced by the LGBTQIA community. I just woke up and I cried," he said, expressing his joy that Section 377 had been overturned. For the town, I sobbed. Because there was at last freedom, I sobbed. Supporting this was done out of a single, unwavering love for our wonderful nation. The decision was based on history. That you can love whoever you want without being subjected to any legal constraints makes me so happy that it is finally recognised legally.

The judges for the current season of Manish Paul's dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa are Madhuri, Nora Fatehi, and Karan Johar. This season of the show marks its tenth overall. At 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, it airs on Colors TV.
