Karan Johar, a prominent figure in Bollywood, marked his father Yash Johar's 20th death anniversary with a series of heartfelt posts on his Instagram handle. He shared a series of his father's pictures along with an emotional note dedicating to him. Karan wrote, "I can't believe it's been 20 years... My biggest fear was losing my parents... On August 2, 2003, my father told me he had a fatal tumor... My worst nightmare was staring at me, yet I had to stay positive as his child and maintain faith... 10 months later, he left us... We lost him... But we gained every inch of his goodwill... I was so proud to be the son of the strongest, affectionate, and selfless person... He elevated relationships above everything... and left behind a legacy of love that my mother and I still live by... I wish he knew our children... But I know he watches over them and us all the time... Love you, Dad..."

Yash Johar Passed Away from Cancer in June 2004

Yash Johar, the founder of Dharma Productions, was an inspiration to many in Bollywood and is fondly remembered by his director son Karan Johar. He passed away in June 2004 after battling cancer. Yash Johar's Last Seen Film Was Lakshya

On June 18, the 20th anniversary of Farhan Akhtar's film Lakshya was celebrated. Director Karan Johar revealed that this film starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta was the last movie his father saw at its premiere. On his Instagram stories, Karan mentioned, "Lakshya was the last film my father saw before he left us. He returned from the premiere proud of Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar, and Hrithik Roshan, and blessed me. Lakshya will always be special to me in many ways... He also met the entire industry at the premiere." Johar expressed gratitude that his father bid farewell to his cinematic family at the screening.
