Filmmaker Karan Johar often faces criticism for giving priority to people in the film industry or the rich. Karan's previous multi-star film 'Kalank' was badly beaten at the box office and the film was heavily criticized. Speaking to the media at the launch of writer Shunali Khullar Shroff's book 'Love in the Time of Ffluanza' in Mumbai recently, the filmmaker said, "I have made that kind of films because I grew up in a certain environment and there was a desire that I had. Was associated with the way of thinking. So I always thought that cinema was more than real life, and so I created characters that people want."
