Karan Nagar Encounter: Wreath-laying observance of CRPF jawan Mujahid Khan performed today

Arrah (Bihar) [India], Feb.14 (NT): The wreath laying ceremony of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Mujahid Khan took place at his hometown in Bihar's Arrah city on Wednesday.

Khan lost his battle of life in an encounter with terrorists at CRPF camp in Srinagar's Karan Nagar area.

Now a 32-hour gun battle between security forces and two LeT terrorists, in Karan Nagar locality in Srinagar have ended after a bid by the terrorists to attack a CRPF camp was thwarted.

The Indian Martyr was a resident of Bihar and part of the 49 Battalion.

The security operation was held by a Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF. The gun battle, which kicked off on Monday morning, came two days after Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists attacked an Army camp in Jammu's Sunjuwan area. After an encounter that lasted over 30 hours in Srinagar, security forces succeeded in eliminating the 2 terrorists who tried to attack a CRPF camp.

Security personnel also recovered arms from the bodies of the killed terrorists. The incriminating material seized from them show terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba's involvement in the terror attack.

At around 4: 30 am on Monday an alert sentry at the headquarters of the 23rd Battalion of CRPF saw 2 terrorists and foiled their attempt to attack the CRPF camp by opening fire on them after which they hid in an under-construction structure in Karan Nagar locality that has both commercial and residential buildings.
