19 years ago, A war took place between India and Pakistan in Kargil district of Jammu Kashmir. On July 26, 1999, Indian Army recaptured all its posts. Since then this day of Bravery and Sacrifice of Army is celebrated as the ‘Vijay Diwas’. On this day we bring you lesser known facts about this day of Victory and glory.

  • The main reason of the war was infiltration of terrorists and Pakistani army into Indian Land.
  • First Pakistani troops cross the LOC (Line of Control) and entered India, Indian Army also gave a strong answer with weapons
  • Indian army Launched operation Vijay and set free to Indian territories that were occupied by Pakistani troops

19th Kargil Vijay Diwas: Nation pays tribute to the heroes of the war

  • The Pakistani army was on the higher attitude, therefore, they got the strategic advantage
  • Army of both the countries fought to achieve the land again. The Indian Airforce also joined the war and played a significant role in removing Pakistani troops from the Indian land.     
  • Pakistan Withdrew its army due to pressure from increasing attack from India.
  • Although India won the war, it took a big price for It. India lost total 527 soldiers in this war.
