MUMBAI: The prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) has been rescheduled to be hosted during July 2 to10. Into its fifty fifth edition this year, the festival is held annually in July in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.

One of the oldest events of its kind in the world, it has been one of the most celebrated film festival of Europe. The festival could not be held last year due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

However, its dates this year will clash with the Cannes Film Festival that has been rescheduled from May to July 6-17 causing worries among the festival goers.

?Should there be a notable difference between early July and second half of August regarding the allowed seat occupancy in the cinemas, we will seriously consider postponing the festival,? the festival hosts have indicated.

?As far back as we can remember, the strong relationship of KVIFF and its audience has always made filmmakers happy to come to Karlovy Vary from around in the world. And a happy filmmaker has always been our goal,? they have stated.

KVIFF is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest film festivals. The 2020 edition of the festival was cancelled due to the pandemic. The festival had planned a special event in November 2020, titled Karlovy Vary IFF 54 ½, but that too was cancelled due to an increase in cases in the Czech Republic.
