Bangalore: Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that  the State's school textbooks will be revised this year.

At the initial stage, there will be Setu Bandha project which will help in teaching lessons that the students have missed due to no-attending of physical classes, the minister said.

"The experts will also determine what should be there in a textbook and what should be removed. In addition, there has been an additional revision in the past as well," the minster said. The Setu Bandha project would help  in teaching the lessons that the students had missed because they did not attend physical sessions. "We had promised to revise the textbook in the manifesto, and we will do it," he said. The Minister went on to indicate that the interests of the children would be served by the actions.
The Chief Minister has personally given this issue considerable attention and stated that it is a matter of happiness.

Bangarappa further mentioned that the experts are not just for parties. Their suggestions will be taken into account, and miscommunications need to end right away.

There are two issues with hiring teachers, Bangarappa said when speaking about the recruitment scenario in Bangalore. There is a legal issue that the Attorney General will talk about. Second, there is a teacher shortage, and using guest lecturers to fill the gap is not the answer. Therefore,  it will be resolved as soon as possible." 

There was a textbook controversy under the previous BJP administration, with the opposition Congress and some authors calling for the dismissal of Rohith Chakratirtha, the head of the committee that reviews school textbooks, for allegedly "saffronizing" them by adding the speech of RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar as a chapter and omitting chapters on important figures like freedom fighters, social reformers, and authors of renown literary works.

Also, there have been claims that the textbooks contain factual inaccuracies and inaccurate information about the social reformer Basavanna, who lived in the 12th century. There have also been claims that Kuvempu, the nation's poet, and the state song he wrote have been disrespected. Initially, the accusations were denied, but in some cases, corrections were made later.
