Bengaluru: Amidst the political stalemate in Karnataka, six of the 16 rebel MLAs remaining in the state have also approached the top court. 10 rebel MLAs have already filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi has sought to hear the petition of all the rebels along with other rebel ministers. They have also sought a modification of the petition filed by 10 rebel widows in the past.

All the rebel MLAs are demanding that the Supreme Court direct the Assembly Speaker to accept the resignation of all the 16 MLAs. The case is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday. The Assembly session in Karnataka is in operation. Meanwhile, rebel MLAs in Mumbai have asked the Mumbai Police to provide security as a threat to their lives.

It is also reported that Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy is expected to visit Mumbai to meet angry MLAs. The Congress Legislature Party is also meeting in The Karnataka capital Bengaluru on Monday. The rebel Congress MLAs have refused to leave.

Rebel MLAs say that Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar is violating the fundamental rights of the MLAs. In addition, legislators are being threatened to forcefully support the government. They are being asked to support the government, otherwise, they will be disqualified. Legislators say that any elected member of the Legislature has every right to resign.
