BANGALORE: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has decided to cancel the planned 'bandh' scheduled for today, June 22. Following discussions with the government, all concerned bodies have been urged to refrain from organizing protests or calling for a bandh.

Statewide Strike Called by KCCI - The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) had previously called for a statewide strike on June 22, as a response to the exorbitant rise in electricity charges. This call required all trade and industry bodies to shut down their establishments during the Karnataka Bandh.

In an official statement, the industry body expressed, "We kindly request all trade and industry establishments to suspend their operations on June 22. This protest is against the significant price surge in electricity charges imposed by ESCOM's."

Over the past eight days, earnest efforts were made to convey the gravity of the impact resulting from the electricity charge hike. Regrettably, no solutions have been presented by government officials or representatives. In order to draw the government's attention, the decision to call for a bandh was made. The primary objective behind this move is to find a satisfactory resolution and secure a reduction in electricity charges. The industry body remains hopeful that the government will respond positively to their request.

By engaging in dialogue and negotiations, the FKCCI has taken a significant step toward addressing the concerns of the trade and industry sectors. The decision to cancel the bandh is a result of constructive discussions with the government, where both parties have expressed a willingness to find a mutually beneficial solution.
