Bengaluru: Today is the day of power test for the Congress-JDS coalition government in Karnataka. Amid the growing political crisis in the state, Governor Vaju Bhai Wala has now written to CM HD Kumaraswamy asking him to prove his majority at 1.30 pm on Friday afternoon. Earlier, the Governor had requested the Assembly Speaker to consider the floor test on Thursday itself.
The Karnataka Assembly Speaker, however, adjourned the House for a day. The BJP then started dharna with its MLAs in the Assembly itself. BJP MLAs, who stayed in the Assembly overnight, were seen walking on a morning walk this morning. On Thursday night, former CM and BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa was seen sleeping on the floor with all his fellow MLAs.
BJP MLAs and leader of the opposition BS YeddiYrappa were discussed by Congress MLAs DK Shivkumar and HS Pat Li. However, the meeting could not yield any results. The Karnataka BJP MLAs slept in the Assembly itself. BJP leader B Yeddyurappa said on Thursday, "Our demand is only to have a floor test today. But CM is not ready for this. He has lost the confidence of the House and the people. He has only 98 MLAs. We have 105 members.
