Bangalore: Basavaraj Bommai will meet PM Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday after he is sworn in as Karnataka CM. He will also meet Union Ministers during his visit to the capital. In addition to government business, Basavaraj Bommai will discuss the cabinet expansion in Karnataka with the party high command.

Basavaraj Bommai has sworn in as the 23rd CM of Karnataka two days ago on Wednesday. Former CM BS Yediyurappa as well as several central and senior BJP leaders of the state were also present at the event during the swearing-in ceremony. Basavaraj Bommai's father SR Bommai was also CM for 281 days in 1988. Born on January 28, 1960, Bommai comes from the Lingayat community and is considered to be very special to Yediyurappa. Basavaraj Bommai started his political career with JDU and later joined the BJP in 2008.

Bommai, who was twice MLC and three-time MLA, was elected to the Karnataka Assembly from Shigargaon constituency in Haveri district in the 2008 Karnataka state elections. Bommai is a graduate of mechanical engineering. Basavaraj Bommai was elected as the new CM of the state at a BJP legislature party meeting on Tuesday, a day after BS Yediyurappa resigned on Monday.
